Convention Report

CincyCon 2020 Guidebook Cover
A month ago during the weekend I attended CincyCon, and this ended up being the last public gathering before the shelter-in-place order went into effect in the State of Indiana. My planned excursion to travel up to Lake Geneva to attend my 5th GaryCon convention was cancelled, and we (Nick and I) ended up staying home. I still ran six games for Virtual GaryCon this year, …all online, which I’ll detail in another post later today.

CincyCon is organized and run by Jim Foxx and friends, and this year, they managed not to schedule it the very same weekend as GaryCon for the first time in a couple of years which meant that I could attend both CincyCon and GaryCon. For CincyCon I travel light, and don’t go to run any games, but instead attend to play games, and check out what is going on in the Cincinnati gaming scene!

First, though, a shout out to a favorite local gaming and hobby shop, the Boardwalk Hobby Shop, located over on the east side near Indian Hills at:

Boardwalk Hobby Shop
1032 Delta Drive
Cincinnati, OH 45208
(513) 871-2110

They are usually open from 10-6 Monday thru Saturday and 12:00 PM – 5-00 PM on Sundays. As soon as we are done with this Pandemic, and shelter-in-place thing, give them a call, and stop by to pick up some new games, Your friendly local gaming store will really appreciate that!

hmgs midwest logoFrom my friends at HMGS Midwest, Little Wars, originally scheduled for April 23rd-26th, of course, has been cancelled, and the HMGS is now focusing on an expanded schedule for the Autumn Wars which is scheduled for the weekend of October 2nd-4th at Trinity International University in Bannockburn, Illinois. That is actually very close to Highland Park, and is located on the North side of Chicago. More information for this, for you, here:
